New in 2.4: event replay →

Webhooks, signed and retried for you.

Example API sends, signs and retries your webhooks, so your team can stop maintaining a queue and get back to the product.

Free up to 10,000 events a month. No card required.

Terminal
# Install the CLI and send a test event
npm install -g example-cli
example login
example events send --type "order.paid"

Features

Everything between your app and their endpoint

Placeholder intro: one or two sentences on the problem your product removes.

Background delivery

Your API call returns straight away. Delivery, signing and retries happen in the background. Placeholder feature: describe yours.

Signed payloads

Every request carries an HMAC signature and a timestamp, so receivers can reject forgeries and replays.

CLI for local testing

Forward live events to localhost while you build. No tunnels to configure.

Delivery logs

Search every attempt, response code and latency for 30 days. Replay any event with one click.

Automatic retries

Failed deliveries retry with exponential back-off for up to 72 hours before they are parked.

Runs anywhere

Plain HTTPS and JSON. Works with any language, framework or hosting provider.

Developer experience

Send your first event in five lines

Use the SDK for your language or call the REST API directly. Either way, you get signing and retries for free.

  • Official SDKs for JavaScript, Python and Go
  • Idempotency keys on every request
  • Test mode that never touches production
Follow the quick start →
send-event.js
import { Example } from "example-sdk";

const client = new Example(process.env.EXAMPLE_KEY);

// Send an event. Retries and signing are handled for you.
await client.events.send({
  type: "invoice.paid",
  endpoint: "https://hooks.example.com/billing",
  data: { invoice: "inv_1042", amount: 4900 },
});

How it works

Placeholder summary: the few steps from sign-up to a first delivered event.

  1. Install the CLI

    One command on macOS, Linux or Windows. It needs no other runtime.

  2. Add an endpoint

    Paste the URL that should receive events, then copy its signing secret.

  3. Send an event

    Call the API from your app and watch the delivery appear in the log.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Do I need to change my server code?

Only to send events. Receiving code stays the same: Example API delivers plain HTTPS POST requests with a JSON body.

What happens when my endpoint is down?

Example API retries with exponential back-off for up to 72 hours. After that the event is parked and you can replay it from the dashboard or the CLI.

Can I verify that a request came from Example API?

Yes. Every request is signed with your endpoint secret. The docs show how to check the signature in a few lines.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The Hobby plan is free for up to 10,000 events a month, with no card required.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Plans are monthly and you can cancel from your account settings. Placeholder answer: write your real policy here.
